Guess What?

Boy, I am sure glad I own GLD this morning...

While I gather my thoughts this morning, I thought you might want to know that due to unforeseen issues, this weeks watchlist has been delayed until much later today. Maybe even tonight.

In the meantime, I am going hunting. I'll be back with a few ideas this afternoon.

That's OK, Jeff! There are still plenty of great set-ups on your previous lists.:-)

Thank-you for all you do for us.

OA's: Lets all make some money this week

raimo,
Are you taking down ADM so early in the day w/o volume confirmation? Also shouldn't you wait till the end of the day on a breakout for price confirmation? (To avoid head fakes)

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:06AM | Unregistered Commenterjym

Glad I still held onto ABX, however it hasnt moved as much as I had hoped based on the move in GLD...thats the problem with a stock, I suppose, too many other variables.

ADM loking good; I wish it was a put play though; anyone see any good short setups?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:14AM | Unregistered Commentermram

Westy, LM looks awesome. Thanks, bud.

Raimo, thanks for the heads up on ADM, man.

Good to be back in the trading seat after weeks with no computer. Got my first Mac. It is taking some adjusting, but I would recommend it. Took everyone's advice, got two monitors. HUGE difference in information flow. Glad to see everyone here moving onward and upward as my pappy likes to say.

Now, if I can remember how to make some money...

LM as a put play is the best I see out there.

I Closed out of LRCX puts, and CREE calls this morning.

Bear hunting, bull hunting, or stock hunting?

mram, I own a few ABX calls as well. You planning on holding over earnings in a couple of days?I likely will.Any other thoughts on this?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:20AM | Unregistered CommenterJim D

raimo,
Thanks. On the radar here too.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:25AM | Unregistered Commenterjym

Jim D

I plan to hold thru earnings. My plan was to exit at 47.50

With gold up big theres got to be a pop sooner or later in ABX, if you compare longer term charts, the correlation is pretty tight.

Somebody mentioned MIL earlier - looks like a great short setup - anyone else see that?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:25AM | Unregistered Commentermram

I;m just thrilled I didn't listen to GS and doubled down on CNX.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:30AM | Unregistered CommenterDrDirt

Raimo,
What is the new crystal ball that you mentioned on the previous post?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:34AM | Unregistered CommenterLaney

Jeff; (Re: you said you're glad you own "GLD") YES!!!! Thanks for "GLD"; and, thanks for "CNX", also.

Calling Arnold T Pants Esquire

Did you take down some HANS calls on Friday?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:38AM | Unregistered CommenterJodi

I've seen the correlation as well. You would also think w/the increase in price of gold that has to be a positive for future outlook on earnings although w/ earnings sometimes nothing makes sense.

Laney,

Some things I have to keep to myself..its a superstition thing...

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:39AM | Unregistered Commenterraimo

Raimo,
I bet if Jodi wanted it, you'd share. Hrmph!

:-)

No problem.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:46AM | Unregistered CommenterLaney

Raimo,
Any thoughts on USG? Are you still holding them?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:48AM | Unregistered CommenterSam

I guess those of us who have been waiting for HANS to break out to the downside will have to admit that is something that is not happening any time soon

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:49AM | Unregistered Commenter28dividends

I've been on the wrong side of HANS twice now, got my brains beat out. HANS goes on my 'Do not go near' list.

Scooter,

Speaking of shopping.......PTR good put candidate here......you agree?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:55AM | Unregistered CommenterJodi

Why is the VIX up when the market is up?

Huh.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 08:59AM | Unregistered CommenterLaney

Anyone selling coal into strength here?

Speaking of giving thanks (to Jeff), CLF!! sweet move today...THANKS Jeff!

Anyone like AEM.. Seems to be getting ready to break out....

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:04AM | Unregistered CommenterTony S

AEM looks like a great ascending triangle setup, but Earnings are out tomorrow. That scares me. Hmmm...

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:08AM | Unregistered CommenterSledge Hammer!

I'm stalking ABT as a potential bearish idea...

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:17AM | Unregistered CommenterBen3

AMG triangle anyone?

DrDirt,

Since the subprime mess, I am very cautious on any words that an investment bank says. They continue to up/downgrade each other (now). While they ALL thought subprime was a GOOD idea.

Just makes me take the other side of what they think.

Boy, I am sure glad I own AEM this am.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:19AM | Unregistered CommenterRablesk

Laney,
Market is off 100 from the high. I think the VIX was down at the open. So it has moved up as the market has declined. Like it's supposed too. Why I don't know. If VIX is a measure of uncertainty, why does it always go up as the market goes down? What is the correlation between declining markets and volatility. Shouldn't sharply advancing markets also increase volatility? Am I missing something?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:23AM | Unregistered Commenterjym

mram-
I like the setup on MIL, but I cannot make it fit my reward:risk calculations.

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:25AM | Unregistered CommenterMark P

Jeff,

DBA is following GLD and USO much higher today. With dropping bond prices, lower dollar, unrealistic interest rates, and weak equities, seems the market is pricing in higher inflation. Can anyone say stagflation? Seems like the environment is changing to an environment where equities will under-perform other asset classes. Would you consider talking about the macro-economic forces at work now, and perhaps discuss the current environment?

Tue, February 19, 2008 at 09:30AM | Unregistered CommenterSausalitoMike

Jeff,
GLD, buy the dips and take it for the long ride!!!

POT, Took my little bite of profits this morning and I am hunting for a few more incredible trades.

Take a look at PRGO, CLF, MTL, POT (STILL), PCP, QCOM, MTRB, BA, STJ, - ALL BULLISH PLAYS. EW, PTNR HANS, PCLN, SFG, AHG, VAL - ALL PATTERNS. AND THE WAIT FOR TIMING PICKS - AKAM, BMRN, AEM.

Am I getting under the radar with these????
Out - Steve
